Subject: PLEASE HELP! intake gasket blowing out IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone had any problems with their intake gaskets blowing out on the 5.2 liter? Chrysler is trying to void my warranty because of my roller rockers--could that REALLY be the problem?

Message: No way in he11 that roller rockers would do it. Bastards are just trying to get you to pay. Are you talking about the end gaskets or the intake plenum gasket?

Message: Which gaskets you talking about? Anyway, the 1.7s didn't have anything to do with it. If you can't get the ba$tards to fix it, check with me. I changed my intake to find the modified one leaked. Remember? Me and Mike redid it and everything is better than stock. Get with me and I'll explain/help you fix it. Gasket set is ~$60 + good sealant.

Message: Hey Wayne,
What did you do to make this better? I am going to be fixing my leaking plenum pan this weekend. I already have new intake manifold gaskets and was going to use The Right Stuff instead of that crappy mopar plenum gasket. Dealer replaced it about 7,000 miles ago and it is leaking pretty bad already. Thanks for your help.

Message: Just solve all problems and never worry about leaking plenum gasket again, and get the 2bbl M1 manifold. Increase in performance, and no more belly pan gasket to suck oil through!!

Message: sreding, rough up the surfaces where the gasket will contact the plenum and the pan. Jon Smith (fast4x4.net) has an article on this. He used a center punch. This was too time consuming for me so I used one of those electric pencils that is used to mark TVs, stereos, etc. I just went all the way around both pieces and roughed them up real well. This helps the gasket and sealant to get a better grip on the metal. My other suggestion is what you are already doing. Use The Right Stuff.
Another idea is to do what HSKR did but that takes a few more $. Wouldn't you know they would come out with the 2 bbl model right after I spend money on a Hughes Stage I.
