Subject: General FIPK question

Message:
I'm looking for some advice on the K&N FIPK. To start, I own a 2k 4.7... and haven't found one yet (I don't believe K&N has come out with one yet). Anyway, I bought one for my 2001 Expedition... and it just came in the mail yesterday. Ever since I odered it, I have found a lot of discussion on these... both positive and negative. It seems as if you either love it or hate it. The topics seem to be: Lack of filtration (K&N is not as good as the paper), oil messing up the MAP sensor, LOUD NOISE and questionable performance and mileage. So, for those that have these (on their Dakotas), please tell me what you think on the following topics:

NOISE:
Filtration:
Performance:
MAP Sensor problems:

Also, once this comes out for my Dak, I will probably try it out... but my Expy is primarily my wifes ride... so I don't want it to lose any reliablility (starting, being tempremental, etc.).

Thanks.

Rob

Rob,

I haven't noticed any problems with mine, love the extra power in the winter and enjoyed the sound until my Gibson drowned it out.

~35-40K miles on filter, 62K on truck. My mileage never went up but probably because my foot went down.

I believe you meant Mass Air Flow sensors if it is then not to worry Dodge doesn't use them.

I got my intake from a guy on ebay. Very good quality and huge filter. Saw an increase of 3 mpg. Does make a louder "mean" noise when accelerating but quiet as stock when cruising. (link to one of this guys other auctions below)
