Message: Don't forget the 4.7 is all-aluminum and SOHC, and the 5.9 is a heavy as* old as* OHV cast iron beast (I know the new HEMI is OHV but thats a different story, but oh wait what did they base/take ideas from for the new 5.7 Hemi? oh thats right the 4.7!!!!), Sure the 5.9 gots more torque but come on torque is only good until 30 mph or so. The 4.7 HO is 265hp with 325 ft.lbs in the GC or for you guys that have upgraded, um lets see 5.9 is 250hp in R/T with 345 ft. lbs, and for you guys to say the R/T didn't come with a stick was b/c it had to much power get real! People SC there 4.7 all the time with the 5 speed and thats a hell of a lot more power then a stock 5.9 so thats not why..and to wrap it all up, all i can say is two things "There's no replacement for technology" and hey 5.9 R/T guys you will need to stop for gas first...hahaha

Message: I'm curious what makes people dig down 20-30 pages and reply to a post that's 2 years old? Doesn't anybody see the 2000-2001 date from the last reply before throwing in their two cents?

Message: I have the 4.7,
BUT,
It's NOT all aluminum, as 00 4x4 states.
It has aluminium (pun), heads!, and cast iron block.

Message: All u mo fo's that talk trash about the 5.9 R/T need to show some legit time slips. Everyone of u says u can run "14.7" in ur stock 4.7 or 5.2. PROVE IT!!!! (If i had a web site to post my time slips then i would give them) I havent seen one 4.7 Dakota out where i live pull as hard as an R/T. Not even on the track (California Speeway's drag strip, Irwindale 1/8 mile drag strip, or LACR).

Message: wow,you see this all the time here!its really quite entertaining.im gonna have to jump on the r/t side, since i own one,and say put your 4.7 against a 5.9, bolt on for bolt on,and youll get toasted.im tired of hearing about people "whipping" stock r/ts.id rather spend money on a 5.9 than a 4.7.like ive said in other posts, its a hell of alot harder to squeeze ponies out of a 4.7!so,4.7 boys, have fun beating 5.9s,at least until they add a FIPK and exhaust, then see whos beating who.

Message: Who cares, it is still a Dodge, it will suck just as bad as the 5.9 in the long run. If you truly want somthing better you need to trade for a Nissan, Chevy, Ford or Toyota, I got out of DOdGe and am glad. I cruse this sight to see how many others see the light, every time I visit this site I read a thread of somone else getting rid of their DOdGe, which is good news.

Message: You guys comparing the R/T and 4.7L are truly moronic. They aren't meant to be compared to each other. And regular bolt on 4.7L's vs. regular bolt on 5.9L's will still run about the same times as each other. The 5.9L has the mod advantage, but the 4.7L has the tech advantage. Eventually, the 4.7L could overtake the 5.9L IF there were enough products, but like I said earlier, you're comparing two different engines designed in two different eras...and they both serve different purposes.
