Subject: HELP!!!!! new tb STICKING at WOT!!! IP: Logged
Message: I just installed my new TB from flowmetrics and the dang thing stuck on me at WOT, and a couple of times the thing would try to pull itself open as I was just giving it gas (slowly) (because I was getting nervous after the first happening of self-automatic WOT! only drove it a mile since install, to dangerous for driving, but there is one good thing, the dang thing is awsome sounds sweet at mid to WOT, and gets up to speed fast (like uh 86mph in a 45 zone, hey I could help it, IT STUCK. I have an automatic and that was scary as hell, the first thing that came to mind was, pump the gas, after a few constant pumps it closed, so I tryed it as soon as I got home to see if it did it, so I put it in park and, sure enough, wammme WOT, but the funny thing is that it did'nt stick as soon as it did on the road, it took a little bit more rpm's to get it to stick that time. So if someone know any tweaks that might need to be done please help me out, I want to get this thing back on the road, w/ my new tb (safely).
thanks,
Justin P

Message: Justin,So what was the problem??? I had the exact same thing happen to me when I put on a TB from Hughes Engines. What it was is they machined the shaft too thin and the shaft would deflect and the throttle blades would get jammed in the bores.Of course I sent that piece of crap back and got a Holley.

Message: Well this one from F&B is not a piece of crap, the cause of the WOT was my fault. I made my own 4" intake hose and needed a coupling to connect the TB to the intake. So I bought a rubber Fernco hose from Home Depot to make the connection, and when I did, I slid it up to far onto the TB causing it to bind up the throttle body lever (when WOT), so it was'nt until the next day when I figured it out, so I did a simple configuration, "cut to fit". After that the truck ran like a champ. I personaly suggest the F&B TB.
