I have noticed something twice now, twice I was coming to a stop when all of a sudden there was a clunk sound, and it kind-of moved the truck, or at least that's what it felt like. Now keep in mind that I was almost at a complete stop, but not fully, and I was not coming to a slamming on brakes stop, I was just pulling it into my garage and parking it. If someone could please help me out on this deal I would greatly appreciate it, plus I would have something to tell the dealer when I bring it up there. Oh, my truck is a 2001 QC 4.7 3:55 auto. What I'am thinking is that it may be, or might have something to do with the brake drums, because that is were it felt like it may have came from, not sure though. PLEASE REPLY sorry for such a long post.

Sounds like your on the right track, I was convinced it was your front breaks until you said you had felt it in the rear. If it is the back breaks it could be that the hold down spring pin may have broke. It's a pin that goes through the backing plate, through part of the shoe and finally through a spring. this is my opinion,
have you thought it might be a u-joint, just another suggestion.

My 2001 QC does this same thing. It is axle wrap. The rear springs are bound up, and they return to there normal shape, and this makes the sound you are referring to. Mine does it app. 2-5 seconds after you completely stop. Is this the same thing yours does?

No, mine does it right before I stop, it kind of feels like, "for a spilt second, that there is nothing their, and then it grabs (the brakes catch). In another words it feels like it kind-of lets off the brakes a second then grabs, followed with a clunk sound, (but real faint). Man troy I hope that it has nothing to do with my rear end.

Are you backing into the garage? In reverse, at low brake applications, the brake shoes in drum brakes want to kind of "wind up" or grab onto the brake drum. It's called "self energization". All drum brakes do it when the brakes are lightly applied. The "clunk" would be the brake shoes releasing from the drums. if you are backing into the garage the sound you hear is normal.

Mine does the same thing, I have a '98 Sport, 5.2 auto.
I think it may be the tranny mount. Being an auto, it still is trying to move the truck forward while you are trying to stop it, so the tranny end would want to go up. I haven't checked mine yet so I don't know for sure.
Check yours, let us know.
