Message: Fellow Dak drivers:
The manual on my 2000 Dakota says to change the tranny fluid at 12k miles. Is this accurate? I thought tranny fluid usually goes for 30k to 40k miles before needing to be changed. Same for the rear end. I have the LSD 3.92 so I know i need to add the friction modifier when i change that. I just thought this could have waited a little longer.
The dealers here want INSANE $$$ to do all of this, PLUS i will have the coolant changed.
If any of you think this is ridiculous, let me know, please...

Message: Yes, this is ridiculous. The manual says that stuff so you will take it to the dealer to get it done. If the dealer makes money, so does the manufacture. Get it!!!! It's bullcrap!!! 30,000 - 40,000 would be fine.

Message: Do the maintence acording to the service manual or owners manual. Schedule B calls for 12,000. If this applies to you then follow it. Lubricants are two cheap to worry about. Anytime a dealer does anything for you you are going to over pay!!!!!
