Subject: True dual exhaust system IP: Logged
Message: I have spend several weeks on trying to locate a true dual exhaust system for my '99 5.2L Dak 4x4 Ext cab. I have had minimal sucess in locating anything but dual catback systems, and headers to swap into as OEM direct replacements. I am starting to wonder if there isn't enough room allowable under there to run a true dual exhaust or if there just isn't enough of a demand for it yet. I was thinking of purchasing performance headers, 2 single cats, and 2 single catback systems, and then tying the system together having exhaust tubes custom bent (and possibly integrating an H pipe). Has anyone tried this or know of a better way or of a place that sells a complete true duel kit? Thanks.

Message: You can't get true duells because of how your gas tank sits because it sits on one side where your 2nd exhaust system would travel if you can get adifferent tank that mounts in the middle so the exhaust can travel under it then you canput duells on.

Message: Okay AndyL, well I have a 98 5.2 with the PPH headers from KRC Performance with dual inlet cat with true duals and a x-pipe with no cats, but I have turn downs before the axel, I see no problem running true duals because I did with no problem. Call Marty at KRC Performane and ask for the PPH headers and dual inlet cat for the R/T it works great. (321)635-8866.

Message: I think I'd have to go with Sleepers suggestion. You can run twin pipes side by side down the passenger side using a two in/two out muffler and losing the cat altogether or using a two/two hi-flo cat.I'm going to do this to my 97 5.2,deleting the cat altogether.
Remember, you can stagger the location of the components, they don't have to be side-by-side! Particually if you want to run two of each component. You can turn the pancake style cats on their sides or at a 45 degree angle to get side-by-side and ground clearance.
Also, turn-outs before the rear axel will not put exhaust gas into the passenger compartment, but will probably increase the in-cabin noise.
Good Luck and keep us posted! See my post about the dyno results for a comment about exhaust.
Dave.

Message: SLEEPER318, does "Marty" sell that setup as a kit?
Neil, that site only lists the 5.9L and 4.7L V8s.
Does anyone know if the 5.9L setup will fit the 5.2L???
I also have a '99 5.2L Dakota 4x4 Ext cab
