Subject: [Rotors, Drums, Pads upgrades] IP: Logged
Message: After 65,000 miles on my '97 Dakota, I'm going for a new set of aftermarket brake rotors, drums, and pads.
No towing, no uphills/downhills just aggressive driving down here in the south.
Read through some messages but didn't find any answers.
Some things I'm currently looking at Wilwood, Brembo, Baer, Raybestos, Ceramic and Carbon pads, Semi-metallic and carbon-metallic. Key points are something better than the oem junk:)
So what are some good companies for Rotors, Drums, Pads.

Message: I would not recommend going to radical. I use Powerslot rotors and Carbon Metallic pads. I am also running a rear disk conversion kit. However, I don't think it's much better than the original drum setup.

Message: Powerslots seem to be the defacto for dakota rotors. What are some other choices?
Marc how's your brake dust? I never could get over the fact after cleaning the rims by the end of the week the tires and rims were full of dust.
I'm in need of some great pads and little dust.
I'll stick with replacing the drums with Oem.

Message: Are you kidding me, I was one of the first to drive a dakota of the dealers lot 4 years ago. I've abused it and loved it since.
It's time for some upgrades just need some personal opinions.

Message: My 98 Dak has 65,000 miles and had original brakes front and rear. I didn't touch the rears, they look fine. I just put Powerslots and Hawk pads, bled the fluid to flush out all the lines and it stops MUCH better.
My 5.2 cents...

Message: Decision time:
Between Hawk - "HPS", "HP+" or Performancefriction for pads
This is all new to me.
Which one makes the least noise and is just plain good all around, hot and cold?
Performancefriction is used by UPS etc.
Hawk never heard of them until recently.
Anyone have any good or bad stories?

Message: Dudes, I got my 97 Dak in November of 1996 and 30k miles later I was replacing the front pads AND rotors! The first set of rotors were pure crap! I was chasing this kid in a Grand Am who did a hit and run and had to back off the chase because the brake fade was so bad I was having to power-slide around the corners to keep out of the ditches! Power Slots for me on the next brake job!
