I am getting only about 14 MPG average since I have owned my Dakota. (I bought it with 63,000 miles on it, it has 79,000 now)

My hi is 20 mpg on the highway, low was 10.5 towing a trailer. I have 30 inch tires, nothing special?

What is everyone else getting?

I only get 10 with my 4.7 but i think the reasons are the way i drive and, my exhuast "system" included, not including a muffler, which gives me little backpressure, but great sound and it feels like a little more torque(using butt dyno of course)..............

Bernd, how do you get good mileage with 32s and all the go fast goodies? I thought your rear end ratio would kill that?

I think I let my truck idle too much sometimes b/c I don't like running it on a cold motor.

By increasing the VE% (Volumetric Efficiency), you increase economy as well as HP output. (Blowers have that effect when tuned properly.)

Plus, the 4.10:1 Gears and 32" tires give me almost the same "effective ratio" on the pavement as my old 3.55:1 gears and 245/70's.

Little known and tested fact: If you reset the computer and drive it for 100+ miles using a light throttle, your mileage will increase overall even if you "stomp on it" a few times. Long Term and Short Term Fuel Trim are stored in the PCM and it remembers these settings. But, if you drive it rather agressive...the PCM will relearn this as well.

Has any one had any experience in increased performance and mileage gains using K&N drop in air filter and/or a new muffler?

Most definitely, everyone who has tried has experienced increased performance and once you stay off the throttle, more mpg.

Remember, your engine is just a fancy air-pump. the more efficiently you can get the air in and the more efficiently you can get it out...the more power you make.

Factory systems aren't always designed for maximum power and economy, but rather for comfort (quietness is the key factor). Restrictive air boxes and restrictive (factory) exhaust systems are designed to keep a vehicle quiet...to an extent.

I get an average of 13 on my 95 X-Cab V6. I drive it very aggressive. My best was 20 nothin but hwy. Most of my mods didn't help out mpg alot, but i usually like the extra power so i push on the gas more. Will the Cold Air Induction Kits provide more mpg than the open element? I've hear the open element doesn't make as much power but i've also heard the opposite. Lately my mpg went down. I dunno why. I changed the PCV valve, spark plugs have been in a few months, they are Autolite 3923, Wires are Accel 8mm, and i have a MSD blaster Coil. i would think that i would be getting better mpg than what i'm getting. But i do undertstand the truck is kinda heavy for a V6 to push. X-Cab Auto doesn't help out. Well thats my .02

Thanks for all the input. I've quit warming my turck up so much and so far, it seems to be helping but I'll see. I'm probably the only nut who tracks his mileage since it can point to potential problems when it declines drastically.

If you really want to increase your mileage take this tip: Keep your girlfriends out of your truck. When I empty my 93 4wd w/the 318 I get 15mpg city. When she brings it back empty it gets 12. What the H$#@ is she doing to my poor truck?(no offense women drivers)

MONEY$$$ NO JOKE!!!! PLEASE READ

WATCH $6 MULTIPLY INTO SERIOUS CASH

TURN $6 INTO SERIOUS CASH. QUICK, EASY, AND HONESTLY!!!
A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you
are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you
could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial
investment of $6.00!
Surely I had my doubts, but i thought to myself,
-it's better to believe that to have the slightest doubt about anything
good. so I kept reading. Anyway, it said that you send $1.00 to each of
the 6 names and addresses stated in the article. You then remove the top
name on the list and place your own name and address in the bottom of:
the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups
(There are thousands) No catch, that was it. I figured: "what have I
got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00, right?" Then I invested the
measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!? Within 7 days, I started getting money
in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money
just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $25.00. By the end
of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third
week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my
fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's
still coming in rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps,
Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $50,000 or more can be
yours in 20 to 60 days. You will now become part of the Mail Order
business. In this business your product is not solid and tangible,
it's a service. You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists.
The money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income which
is made from people like you and me asking to be included in that
list.
: Here are the 4 easy steps to success:
: STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write "PLEASE PUT ME ON
YOUR MAILING LIST" on each piece. Get 6 US $1.00 bills & place ONE
inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper. Place one paper in each of the 6
envelopes and mail them. What you are doing is creating a service.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGALY! Mail the 6 envelopes to the following
addresses:

#1) Bryan Wood, P.O Box 171463, Arlington, Tx 76003

#2) Iam Wright, 1021 Gloucester DR, Toledo, Ohio 43615

#3) Sean Michael, 10810 Sarah Street # 5 , N hollywood Ca 92602

#4) Davares Porter, 9396 WIndahaven CT #201, Glen Allen, Va 23060

#5) Antwon Chekey, 3619 Flamingo DR, Macon,Ga 31206

#6) Ysabelle Clarke, 713 Done Roven Rd, Augusta, Ga 30906

: STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move
the other names up 1 place and add YOUR name and address as # 6 on the
list.
: STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as
close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at
least 200 newsgroups. (close to 24,000 groups) All you need is 200,
but remember, the more you post, the more money you make! You won't
get very much unless you post like crazy. This program remains
successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants
and by their carefully adhering to the directions. Look at it this
way, if you are of
: integrity, the program will continue and the money that so many others have received will come your way.

My friend, it's better to have a little faith, than doubt.
