Hey Fellow Dakota Drivers,

I need some advise! I owne a 2001 R/T RC, my 5.9L has a 50mm F&B TB and a FIPK2 Air intake system, 180 T-Stat, Magnaflow muffler, Autolites.

Should I go with a 2B M1 next? I need some upper hp! Right now this puppy has way too much TQ! Stock it was pumping 302tq RW. I can only imagine now. MY RSA scream for mercy from a stand still WOT.

I would really want some R/T heads and cam, but thats too much money to dish out without having some kind of payment plan of some short. Would a M1 Intake be an easy install? Could it be a weekend project? Is it even worth it? How much does one cost? Well any suggestions? Should I wait and do heads and cam with the M1 down the road? Can my local dealer purchase some R/T heads and a cam and install it for me? Do you think they could finance it?

I also have a 2001 R/T and have pretty much the same mods you do except I also have the 2bbl M1. It is definately worth it. It pulls so much harder all the way to redline. Where the stock beer keg lets off, the M1 just keeps pulling. Another mod you might want to think of is a set of Mopar headers for a 2000 and a dual kat-box. I just finished installing mine today and so far, I love them. I got rid of all 3 stock cats and replaced with a 3" carsound converter. Much better sound and performance.

Hey Wesley did you get rid of the cats yourself and install the carsound converter? I want to do the same thing but don't have much mechanical knowledge. What is involved in this process? Thanks

Thanks, Wesley

One more question, does the installation require new bolts? Like ARP or something that can only be used once to get the correct torque? Where did you get your M1? Does it come with everything I need?

Thanks, Anthony

anthony, i have a 5.2, and no M1, but i do have 1.7 roller rockers. they give power through out the power band and really kick in at about 3000 rpm! pretty easy install also

westly what mods do you have? have you tried the 1.7's yet?

ILLI RT, I installed the headers myself. Major PITA because of the way I did it. I wanted the stock Y-pipe with all 3 cats in one piece. In order to do that, I had to drop the transmission cross member. Some genius at Dodge decided to put the O2 sensor connections on top of the transmission. Another PITA. Other than those two issues, it was pretty straight forward. After I got the headers installed, I drove it to the exhaust shop (with open headers) and had them weld up the joints and the converter.
Anthony, I got the M1 from Marty at KRC Performance. The install kit comes with all of the correct bolts. I think you have to get the gaskets seperate.
