Message: R.L.Stuart,,,,
I thought that parts from the 4.7HO wouldn't work on the regular 4.7's.
What year truck do you have,,, and how much money did it cost to get the cam, and dome pistons? Is that all it takes to get the reg.4.7 up to HO status?
I've been really curious about doing this my self.

Message: To remove the limiter or to raise it they did mine by going into the ABS part of the PCM with a code 10 and code 12,Have had my truck up to 120 before it was 97 mph,The limiter runs off the antilock brake system,THATS WHAT THE REP TOLD ME WHEN IT WAS RAISED TO 149mph,My tires are (Z) rated and the Dealers can remove it,I call it the COP chip!!!!!

Message: This is in regards to the only parts different in the 4.7 HO as compared to the regular 4.7 are "the dome pistons and the pcm" You better check again before you waste a lot of money. Ok here are all the differences: the 4.7 uses a cast iron crank, the HO is forged steel-- crankshaft damper on HO is unique to the HO and can NOT be used on any other motor, The 4.7 has pressed-fit wrist pins, the HO uses floating wrist pins. the main bearings are designed just for the HO and are NOT interchangeable. Pistons are dome shaped which increases comp ratio to 9.7 to 1. HO has unique cylinder heads that have a different shape for better flow. Cams are different can not be used on regular 4.7. exhaust valves in HO are unique as are all valve springs not interchangeable!.spark plugs in HO are platinum tipped, 2 extra knock sensors in the valley under the intake manifold on the HO, HO has unique PCM calibration. This infomation has been taken directly out of the Mastertech reference manual from DC tech training. JULY 2001 issue #7. Given to me by a mechanic at my local dealer upon my inquiry of the differences between the two 4.7 engines. If you know different let us know. sorry so long

Message: OK pasadena dodge told me you are correct RL, had to talk to the brake mechanics, he said it would make the trans slip at high speed , dosent make sence ,does it? o well he added that you can remove the limiter by just unpluging the rear wheel sencore,at the top of the rear axel.this would affect the abs though.this will only work with standard rear abs only.He also said this mod would also let the trans slip at hi speed.? o well , jj

Message: RL, what dealership did you go to? I went to
Dodge of Alhambra, and Jack Ellis Glendale
(California). Glendale said no way, they wont
do it cause it voids the warranty, and dont want
to be responsible/dont know how to do it.
And Alhambra service mgr. said that i would
have to wait for the mopar pcm to be available
for the 2001 4.7 motor.
If you have a name or any info on who would
do it in Cali, please post.

Message: I guess the whole point of this thread is that you can not remove the limiter. But you can make the computer not know how fast you are going so it doesn't know when to shut you down. Unplugging the sensor in the rear diff may have some adverse effects on the autos. On the manuals though you do the shifting so no worries. Personally why would you want ot remove the limiter? Can't think of any reason to go over 117mph myself and my mods haven't gotten me that fast in the quarter either. lol. Will be a while before that will happen.

Message: Don't un-plug the wheel sensor,The limiter is in the rear trans tail shaft they both work together if you go to the PCM and find the BLACK AND ORANGE wire going to the performance side of the computer you have it.In Cal.I know they have different laws,Im in Florida no EPA testing and most of the Service Managers are Gear Heads.DC has a flash to remove the limiter,Some Police Dep use the Dakota's with the 4.7L and the 360,NO LIMITER,Call Marty at KRC and he can get you a flash 2001 and 2002 4.7L (321-635-8866)Hope this Helps,Ask your Zone Rep to remove the Limiter!
