Message: IF you go to 4adodge.com and build your new dak there, it tells you what each of the options are. I went there a couple fo weeks ago and from what I remember it is something like a sport with a few SLT features. Just another way for DC to sell the Dak. I would still buy a SLT, just like the one I have now.

Message: It is a basic Dakota with some minor upgrades. It has the tire and wheel upgrade, a V-6, CD Player, Bench Seating with center console and fender flares to name a few. The fender flares, front and rear bumpers and the grill are always painted the dark charcoal color no matter what color the truck is. It is made for people who want a Dakota and can't affor the more expensive models but want an upgrade from the basic. I just got one about three weeks ago and I love it. It looks better than any Chevy or Ford. The only thing that you have to deal with that might be troublesome for some people are the painted fender flares, bumpers and grill. I got a red one with this option and looks sharp.

Message: No bench seat in mine. I got comfy buckets. It's not that I couldn't afford a Dakota higher up the food chain, I just didn't need or want the extras. I wish I would have waited for the 2003 SXT though. They no longer ship with the graphite grill, bumpers and flares. I'll be putting my new Patriot Blue flares on my truck on Monday. I'll eventually swap out the grill and front bumper. I'm still debating as to whether or not I should get a roll pan.

Message: I meant bucket seats. Sorry about that. I am not sure if I want to replace my graphite colored accessories or not. I kind of like them against the red color. I do have a question though. I want to put some grill and bumper inserts in. Do you think I should go with black inserts or the brushed aluminum? I think they both would look good but I am undecided.

Message: SXT - It's still a v-6!
Less power, the same, or worse MPG.
Go with the 4.7, you'll be glad you did.

Message: The V6 does everything I need it to do. I don't race, I don't go off-roading and I don't haul trailers and stuff. If for some reason my needs evolve somewhere outside of what they are now, I will definitely upgrade. Right now, I'm happy with what I got.
Keith -- It depends on what you like. Personally, I don't like doing anything overly flashy to my truck. I like going the subtle route. I made my own grill inserts and I painted them black.

Message: Hey MightDakSXT, I agree. The V6 with the manual in a 2x4 config, regular cab, has just enough power for a truck of that size and is more than capable of moving the truck down the road, merging with traffic, or towing a trailer across the country. Although, you have to admit, a V8 would have been nice.

Message: I have a 4.7. I don't haul much more than my golf clubs and cooler, I haven't towed anything, and I'm not a racer.
The 4.7 loves to suck down the petro - but it is damn nice to be able to get around traffic as you wish. I live in Kansas City and I'm getting about 13.5 a gallon.
What mileage do you all get in the city? Please state you engine size and location.

Message: In Orlando stop-and-go I get about 16-17 MPG it seems. On the highway I see a wide range between 19-23 MPG depending on the gas (at 80-85MPH). Thats with 92 octane though, in a 3.9L 5-speed R/C without cruise and 3.55 gears.

Message: i have a 4.7....city mileage is 18 if i stay out of the pedal (which is hard to do)...best highway ive ever had is 22 @ 75mph......the best upgrade for my gas mileage was a tonneau cover...made my mpg's jump by 1.5. i just got dual cat-backs last weekend, i also have an intake....i havent quite gone through my tank yet to know what i will end up at, but it looks like i may have gained a little more now also....andi really cant stay out of the gas now
I'd go crazy if I cared!

Message: Mills, sounds like a good excuse to get a tonneau right away. I was going to wait a few months, but what the hell, I'm gonna buy one anyway.
