It should say in your glove box or on a tag on the rear diff.

The above answers such as under the hood or in the glove box are good. But also the tag that is on the rear end is another way. IT will be a small metal tag with 2 sets of numbers, one will say something like 39-11 and the bottom will say 355 (for 3.55). Thats what mine said. If you can't get it those different ways, then you can take your ride to the dealer's service dept and with your VIN you can get a printout of everything the truck was equiped with from the factory.

I saw a small metal tag and it had ratio I think it was 272 is that right.

Sorry that is the wrong tag. It will have either a 3.55 or 3.91 gears in it that is the only options. As Boomer said "take your ride to the dealer's service dept and with your VIN you can get a printout of everything the truck was equiped with from the factory." I don't know what other help we can give you.

If you are really desperate you can count the no. of revolutions your driveshaft makes in the time your rear wheels make one full turn.A 3:55 it will turn 3 and a half times a 3:92 will turn almost four times.It can be awkward to measure but it works.

PS:Also keep in mind daks come with 3:21 rear diffs also in 3.9 5 speeds.
