Message: I put a 318 tb on my 3.9 and I reset the com. and let it idle and as soon as it started it made a really bad knocking noise. I took it off till I found the problem, any ideas? The tb was free so I thought that I would give it a go.

Message: Did you bump the IAC on the back? The Idle Air Controler adds a little fuel to the mixture when the truck is cold. I would just go ahead and get a new one if you did move it, I'm not sure how to adjust it.

Message: The iac only meters air the computer handles mixture. There is no adjustment for the iac. The knocking noise I have no idea there is nothing on the throttle body that could even make the sound. If it were me I would try again at putting it on. Thje only thing that could make the sound is if you dropped somthing down the intake, then it wouldn't go away when you put the v-6 TB on. Good luck.

Message: When ever you replace a Throttle Body, the IAC needs to relearn its baseline position.
When you first start it after replacing your factory TB with an aftermarket one, reset the PCM as well and start the engine WITHOUT pressing the accelerator pedal. Let it idle for about a minute, turn the engine off, and restart the engine. This gives the IAC solenoid a baseline reference to go by.
