I just bought a 1995 Club Cab with the 3.9 v6 and 3.55 rear end. It does real good for hiway driving, but is way to slow off the line. Any ideas on how to help?

clean the throttle body, give it a good complete tune up, and then put your foot in it. I have a 2001 3.9 v6 and mine is great my truck is fast i don't see why everyone knocks them they are great motors also learning how to shift at the right points helps too, it's a very picky motor on shifting you have to upshift right and you'll see find the right shift points and do what i recommended and you'll see it's a different truck.

jay- do you tow with your truck. that is one of my concerns. even with just a small trailer behind it, it struggles to make it up any steep inclines. I want it to take off quiker and to have more power for towing.

You have a 3.9 in a 4,000 pound truck, unless you head over to procharger or something and drop some cabbage on boost, there's really only so much you can do.

yes they are slow,its 175 hp.
hell my chevy v6 has 210 hp.
the new pontiac vibe thingy with a 4cyl has as much power as my 3.9 v6.

speaking of 3.9 performance. i'm thinking about getting the jba cat forward headers. how much hp, and tq would i pick up with these. i was thinking maybe 15-20 hp, and 10-15 tq... jba dosent say on their site though... if i have a better flowing exhaust, i can take full advantage of my v8 TB :-)

Yea it should give you those numbers, i just put those headers on and they are starting to pick the power cause of the computer adjusting to it, i feel a good difference now and especially will my exhaust , i have yet to put my new tb on and when i do i think everything will pick up even more ,also what is the tb you have on now?
