Message: Lets see,
I paid $15,000 for my 2000R/T with only 10K on the clock. It has a back seat you can't get on a Lightning. It also has Rack-n-pinion steering that the Lighting doesn't have (the 2001 Lightning I looked at didn't have one).
Now, my R/T CC doesn't have a S/C, but it is readily available and for under $5K I can have it shipped to my door tomorrow and have it installed the next day.
You can't put a rack-n-pinion or an extended cab on the Lightning unless you have about $20,000.00 to throw away at a custom chassis/body shop.
If all you want is a useless 2wd truck that halls ass and money isn't an issue then the Lightning is a bargain.
Personally, I would rather take that money I saved on purchasing the R/T to put as a down payment on an SRT-4.

Message: My friend has a lightning, and kicks my daks ass. If it was a mopar, I'd spend all that money on one! Blue ovals are not my thing. If it was the same price as a dak, I'd probably buy one!

Message: I'm with WipLash. The MSRP on Lightnings, not to mention that it is a full-size anyway, makes comparing it to a Dakota somewhat ridiculous. If you are rich, mod-challenged, and want a turn-key go-fast truck, there's the SRT-10. If you are a Ford fan and want 500 hp, you'll have to wait for SVT to catch up with PVO.

Message: For the price of a lightning I could buy a dakota r/t and then pay someone to install some parts, be faster than the lightning and still have some change left over. Lightning killer package from KRC added to the price of a dakota plus some tranny work is still less than a lightning.

Message: Duner. how does it run a 12.46 at 136? mid 12s are usually 110-115. even most 11s are under 120. 136 thats huge, and kindof hard 2 believe.

Yes, 136 mph it huge, and no it doesn't go 136 in the quarter. I posted the video and the pic of the scoreboard more or less as a joke.... expecting more "scrutiny" than I got. The people that were there at the track that day know that the mph clock was off by 20 mph that day in the left lane. We all had a pretty good laugh over the fact that the announcer kept telling us the speeds that he knew full well were off. Please accept my apology for my Tom Foolery.

Message: I want ours to be off, that looks way cooler than my times! Well I guess it looks cooler even minus the 20 mph. I didn't post the apology accepted post above, but I do accept it. Thanks for telling me, I thought I was retarded or something!
