 Subject: Shifting gears auto tranny

What would be the problem. My tranny lags between 1st and 2nd gear. It pauses before it encages into 2nd. Any ideas on what this could be and how i can fix it. I have a 5.2 auto.Thanks

I have a 5.2 auto in my 98 2wd Dak, I changed the fluid, flush, filter, total change and it cured my shifting problems.

i have a 98' 3.9 auto, and it usually shifts fine except when i put it into reverse. it jerks really hard. would changing the fluid (synthetic? synchromesh? redline?), flushing, and change the filter, help this?

You all should get the trans checked out by a good tranny shop and if nothing is bad,get a good shift kit and adjust the tv cable.Should fix all of the problems,and stick with the stock fluid.

They flushed mine with fresh trans fluid so that they got all the old stuff out of the torque converter, the trans cooler, and the radiator. Best way to do it. They have a special machine just for that. Well worth it in my own opinion.

Hi I have a 93 dakota the transmission is solid and
shifts into p/r/n/d just fine but when I drive from
first to second gear it will only shift at 3500 rpm
and it don't shift hard or slips and does same
thing to 2nd ti third how would I fix that

I have the same problem even after changing trani and both pressure valves. Dealer wanted to hook me up again @150.00 and I said yea right. Parts dept. will sell new computer cause one in truck cannot be reprogrammed.($500.00) when I asked whether they could guarantee this fix they were not so sure. plus they never told me how to or what the cost was to reburn the new one. have not gone any further with this.
