Actually, he used fiberglass to build the heat shield... the carbon fiber was put on it to make it look neat/cool... (I actually contacted him previously and yes... his is VERY nice!)
I built mine out of fiberglass too... however I didn't have a need/want to put carbon fiber on it... so I am painting it instead with some "high heat" paint (like the stuff you put on BBQ grills)
Hopefully I will have pictures soon...
