Message: I was wondering what you think, I have a 97' 4x4 RC 5.2 auto. I was thinking it would make a good street terror. This was the setup I was thinking.
KB supercharger for the extra torque, all of the other typical engine mods, shift kitted trans, switch to the Durango full time tranfer case (just like AWD) and add 17" wheels with 275/60R17 ties to help fill the wheel wells.
With it having the full time transfer case there wouldn't be any traction problems. I think it would be fun to drive. What do you think and any sugestions. And of you are thinking it would weigh to much last time I weighed it was 4300lbs with driver.

Message: Sounds like fun,
don't forget about the rear end though. a 275/60R17 tire is approx. 30" tall so I wouldn't want anything less than a 3.92 rear gear ratio. Also you will probaly want a LSD to give you even more traction

Message: Hey it's about time someone else decided to do this. If you don't want to spend the money on a durango t case you can also take one off of an old diesel ram(pre-94). These are some beefy T-cases and you can normally find these cheap in a salvage yard (I got mine for $30). Just make sure the truck had a 518 trans(46H). I run a '92 AWD dak 5.2 that currently runs mid 12's all motor. One word of advice, throw on a fairly large rear sway bar because when it's AWD it REALLY wants to pull through the turns. Best of Luck

Message: I saw one of these in a magazine a couple years ago. Someone rich obviously took an extended cab 4x4, lowered it so it sat like an R/T or slightly lower, stroked the 318 out to a 383 or 393 and did all the usual mods. It was fast as hell but didn't have full time 4x4. He said it was there for safety like driving in snow or sliding off the road or whatever. It was really sweet.

Message: Do it!!
I'm still debating the Supercharger idea (for that last little bit of oomph), but I've done just about everything else to my '99 CC 5.2 FT 4X4 and it's a wild ride. No one expects a lifted Dak on 33” tires to move very fast, and they get pretty darn PO’d when tailgate disappears down the road in front of them. Dunno who gets more upset, the RT guys (whupped 2 of ‘em – no doubt both were stock) and 4.7 guys (keep up longer than the RTs, but still fall behind) or the late Chevy guys (puh-leeze). Ford guys don’t even bother. Best are the Corvette, Camaro, Mustang and Lightning guys – when it rains (or snows).
With the MP CAM, Headers and M-1 the engine feels Supercharged. It’s pretty stock (i.e. tame) off the line – which gives the other guy a false sense of security – but then it hits 2500 RPM and WHOOOOOSH!! It lurches forward like it just went on the bottle. Way cool.
Don’t let anyone tell you the M-1 will cost you torque or the MP R/T CAM sucks – it just ain’t true.

Message: yep, im making a 4x4 street truck as we speak. Right now my dak is sitting in my drive just about done with a Kenne Bell install. And let me tell ya, KB needs to do some more homework with the 2001s, cause the 2000 and the 2001s are WAY different when it comes to the engine bay. It works, but i had to get creative in some places. All i have left to do is wire in the Optimizer and the Knock control and i should be done. I've been thinkin about going AWD, but just having rear wheel drive is fun for doing power slides and what not. But than again, AWD would be cool for that much needed traction. But right now, all i care about is getting this thing driveable again. Welp, i gotta call KB, the engine connector (thats what it says on the fusebox cover) in thier manual is different than mine. The only show one inside thier PDC, and i have 2. Its simple thinks like that that make me wonder how well thier system is supposed to work with the 2001s. Anyways, off i go.
