Subject: 4.7L Piston coating in oil?
IP: Logged

Message:
Hello,
I am a Durango 4.7L owner, but have come here before to lurk for good advice. When I changed my oil today (every 3.5K miles with Mobil 1 and PureOne filter) I noticed what looked like paint flakes in the oil I drained out. (Truck has 21500 miles). I took samples to two different dealers and each said it looked like some of the anti-scuff coating from the pistons. They see this often and it is nothing to be concerned about. I can't help but be concerned about 1/2 teaspoon of "paint flakes" in my oil possibly clogging ports, etc. Appreciated any thoughts or other experiences with anything similar
TIA
Wxman
