Message: just bought the "Mopar-Magnum Engines" Book . I was reading the crankshaft section and it refered to a main bearing install/removal tool that can replace the bearings with the crank still in place. Have you head of this tool? I need to replace mine but I dont want to have to yank the engine out. From what the book says... part of it goes into the oiling hole of the crankshaft and all you have to do is rotate the crank to slide it in/out........

Message: Brian, I don't know about the tool. Call the dealer. Maybe they will lend or rent (or sell) you one.
I was curious about the Mopar-Magnum Engines book. Is it just for professional mechanics or could novices follow it for "semi difficult" stuff? Does it cover internal, ignition, Throttle body, etc.
Sounds like it might be a good reference book as well.
Thanks,
Bill

Message: Brian: You don't need a tool for the intallation of new bearings, just slide the old ones out of the block and slide the ne ones in. All you have to do is pull the oil pan and the main caps.
Bill: The book does go into good detail and you don't have to be a mechanic to use it, I think that virtually everyone who has a little car knowlage can benifit from this book.
