Message: Well I put my bars on this weekend and so far am pleased. Allthough they won't really stop tire spin they do keep the springs a lot tighter. I gave a buddy of mine a ride home and he could tell I had done something for he said the ride felt more solid.
Unfortunatley the bumpers supplied couldn't be brought any closer to the leaf that 1 1/2" wich is really NFG since I doubt there is that much flex when I hit tha gas anyways. Even still the ride is stiffer and there is almost no hopping but just a nice smooth wheel spin if you mash the gas. I have ordered bumpers that are 3/4" taller and that will reduce the gap to 3/4" between bumber and spring when under no load. This is abou where they should be. Anyways to make a long story short they look sweet (chrome) and have helped solidify the rear end a little. For $72.00 CAN you can't go wrong unless your Dak is slammed then you won't have much clearance for they do hang down quite a bit. Later

Message: I got mine from Autozone for $45 bucks a year ago and I love them!!! I am just afraid that when I get my rear sway bar and put it on, I am not going to have enough clearance for them!!!

Message: Does anybody know if the MP pinion snibber will work on the Dakota? They cost about $50 but go on top of the pinion and are pretty much invisible, I hear they work well at letting the axle plant the tires more evenly then traction bars as well.

Message: The trac bars are not made to stop spin. They are made to stop wheel hop. I have had them on my 1999 DakSportV6 and they work wonders. I have noticed alot of difference especialy in the time it takes the tires to grab when being spun. believe it or not even though they do not touch the spring they do hit. I had a friend help me and watch when I gunned it and he confirmed this for me. Any question can be e-mailed to me at Livewire18@mediaone.net

Message: Glad to see others have also had success with them. I will take a pic this weekend but I don't know how to put a pic on the net. BTW the stock snubbers sit way to far from the leaf springs. I am getting larger ones this week which are made for these bars. This will give an aproximetly a 3/4" space that will easily snap closed on hard acelleration. Not only do they prevent wheel hop they have made the rear end ride much stiffer which is nice also.

Message: hey save your 40 dollars and your custom fabrication snubbers and mounts and spend $200 on real adjustable traction bars like competition engineering cal trac traction bars

Message: I made some aluminum brackets to place between the leaf (behind the axle) and the bracket on the bars. You may be able to see them in the attached pic, I have since made bigger spacers. It simply lowers the rear of the bars a hair, and jacks the front end up closer to the spring. It makes contact almost instantly now.
If you drop $200 for Cal-Tracs, about the only thing they do the Lakewoods don't, is look better underneath the truck. Less bulky. You still get smooth wheelspin. I had them on my 96 V-6 Dak, and still had wheelspin.
I've had the bars for well over a year now, and they definitely do the trick on the track with some Mickey Thompsons.

Message: The reason my bars may sit lower to the ground than most others, is because the rear end is lowered 2" on blocks.
I have had no clearance problems with mine, since I've had them.
