Haven't seen that yet, but I have seen a Jeep Wrangler with the 8L V10. It was pretty cool for a 4wd.

13s? that's a little unimpressive considering the money he put into that. also, did anyone else notice in the pic looking at the truck from the front, the engine looks off center?

Yeah 13's are slow for a V-10...my buddies Lightning ran a 13.2 on a poor condition track. Its only a V-8 SC. Imagine what a dakota w/ the original V-8 engine could do w/ a SC.

I seem to remember the story being that he had V-10 emblems from a RAM for a while but he got tired of everyone calling him out, so he put the V-6 ones back on to get some peace and quiet. And the answer to the "how does he hook up" was "not too well". It must do good on the top end though.

There was a post on here a few months ago about it. I think he's willing to compromise the lack of traction for the fact his truck is a perfect sleeper. I have been told that the motors are off center in all Daks due to the gas tanks location. It's just that the V-10s tight fit makes it more apparent. I also saw a couple of vipers run at a local drag strip last summer and they were in the 12s if I remember right and one was a Viper Shootout champ. But don't hold me to the #s and the Shootout champ was having problems with his current combo of mods(from what I was told). So this guy isn't doing too bad. And comparing an S/C to a normally aspirated is apples and oranges expecially considering the dak was not made to handle the power of a V-10.

My point being...why get a viper engine which prolly cost him $8-10,000 when you can get a SC for way less. Unless he just wanted to say hey check this out I gotta viper engine and nobody else does.

Yeah but I still think he had to pay a great deal of money for the engine even though the car was wrecked. But I could be wrong.

i heard that the dakota with the viper v-10 ran 13's on stock tires (prolly those $hitty goodyear wranglers) and with severe traction problems, so its still pretty sick, and in my opinoin LIGHTNINGS SUCK yeah you can put a few thousand into them and run 11's but every kid i know whos mommy and daddy bought them one brags about how it can run a high 13 stock, ooooooooooooooo wow i wouldnt want to drive a Flimsy Old Rebuilt Dodge anyways

This truck made a post a few months ago and somebody got prices and to buy a new V-10 with tranny would cost like $14,500 so this guy probably got it for like $8K maybe(just a guess)so if his truck was even 15K he's got a $23K 13 second truck, try to compare that to a lightening.

Gotta remember though, a larger motor isn't always better if you don't have the money to finish it. I mean, we would all love a 528 Hemi, but if it's just stock, you can do a lot more with a 360 for that price.

Quite a few people can boast of having NOS, Turbo or S/Cd trucks in the 13 second range. And even a 408 stroker can do it if done right but to say you have a Viper V10 under the hood. The ONLY MODERN MUSCLE MOTOR. Would be simply awesome. It's as much for the mystique as it is for the speed.

Same way all of these guys go wierd when "HEMI" is mentioned. It's just an engine design but here it's the holy grail of truck motors sometimes. Not that it's bad or anything just similar.

Hey everyone, I like the idea of the V10 Dak, but if you want a Mopar done right, simply wait for the Ram SRT-10. I think the best bang for the buck you can do for the Dak without being overkill would be to spend $3500 on the 360 Mopar crate engine with 360 HP. If you start adding twin turbos/computer reprogramming/superchargers/etc., you will likely spend more than $3500 and still not get this performance. I have a friend here with that crate engine in his dakota with some other mods and runs in the 11s consistently. He gets the power to the ground and its great at the track, but its terrible driving on the street with all the mods. I say wait for the SRT-10 Ram and get the warranty and the fun. Start saving your money now and live with your Dakota as is like me for now........
