Subject: Check Engine Light... Please HELP!!!

I just put a "360 intake" on my Dak this weekend, however now my "Check Engine" light has come on...

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do about it?

My Dak, just came out of the shop last Thursday for a "Check Engine" light problem... which was supposedly fixed. It had leaks in the oil plan, rear main seal, intake gasket, and a cracked cylinder head...

Now since they had fixed these problems and the light was off... could something about the "open air intake" have messed something up and caused another problem...

I would really appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.

Try disconnecting your negative battery cable for several minutes to reset the computer. If this doesn't help, re install your original air filter. If that doesn't do it, take it back to the shop and tell them they didn't fix it..

Well... I did the reset... and the Check Engine light came back on...

Too much effort went into putting the intake and the "custom heat shield" together... so I guess I'm headed back to the dealer tomorrow.

Whoo hoo! Finally got my truck back from the shop today...

Hopefully, they have found the problem... the "solenoid cycle purge" (or something like that) was defective...

The bad news is... they had to flash the PCM to be sure they got all of the problem. Oh well... I guess I wasn't plannin' on usin' my Dak for racin' anyway. Hopefully, I'll get better gas mileage now (previously 11.5 MPG in the city)... especially in light of impending rises in the cost of gas due to recent events.

What DOES that mean, about flashing the PCM. I've heard that on other posts, what is the negative effect of it, does it affect your performance?
Glad to hear they fixed your truck.

I don't know about dak's, but ram v8's <=2001 are having a huge problem with pinging and the dealers reprogram the ecu which lowers the parameters for A) the Check Engine light to appear making the problems go away and B) reduce ping but lowering something else drastically reducing the power. I dunno if it is the same problem with the dak's but ...
