Message: It still amazes me how torque and horsepower are the bragging rights in the usual discussions of who's king of speed. Nonsense. Maintain straightline high G force load in a drag race and unless someone with higher Gs is racing you, you win. It doesn't matter if you have higher advertised numbers of torque, HP,etc. Power to weight ratios can be considered for all comparisons as well as gear ratios, etc.,for discussion's sake. But when you guys air your big horsepower/torque/boost numbers, who cares. If you can maintain a high G, THAT TAKES THE MONEY EVERYTIME. I test for a major automotive research facility and that's how we compare apples to apples. Nothing else tells the story like G loads. If they rate aircraft by this factor, it should be good enough for us motorheads. If you have used a G-Tech Pro unit to track your performance improvements, you know vehicle weight must be calculated in for a adjusted reading to improve the accuracy of your run.
Oh, there are ship engines turning 175rpm (yes, 175) HP=10000, 185rpm=17000 HP (4.0 ft bore)but it ain't fast in the ship. So much for big HP and speed.
