Hey, Has anyone tried this! After installing the modified TB. Just leave the stock airhat base in place for the cooler air routed from the grill then attach an open element lid the diameter of the K&N drop-in filter to give the full effect of the open element. Do you think that would work?

i dont think it would work because the stock air hat is pritty restrictive and so is the accordian style tube that goes from the airhat to the air box. if you look at the FIPK II the tube is bigger and smooth. the airhat is also bigger and less restrictive.
