Subject: what is this tool called? IP: Logged
Message: it attaches to an air compressor, and you put it into the sparkplug hole and blow air into the cylender. it holds the valvs shut when changing the valve springs. does anyone know what the heck its called?

Message: A spring compressor of some sort.
Never heard of putting air into the spark plug hole... but thats my best guess...

Message: He is trying to change valve-stem seals without pulling the head. There is a tool that screws into the spark-plug hole... and allows you to pressurize the combustion chamber. This (in theory) prevents the valves from opening while trying to compress the valve springs and removing the retaining rings. I have a lot of reasons why I don't like this... but that is not the question. I know what you want... but can't remember the exact name of it. You should be able to get one at any automotive supply house.
Good luck!

Message: Don't know why anybody's scared of these, it's the way I've done it for years. KD Tools calls it an air hold fitting and it's a lot easier if you use the extension hose the sell! See both at:

Hope you don't have to pull heads!

Message: thanks guys (expecially chuck). when i got my 1.7 rockers i went ahead and got the MP valve springs and valve stem seals, but didnt have the tool. the guy at the parts store looked at me like i was a idiot.
I went ahead and put the rockers in with the stock springs and it works fine, but i still want the MP springs. if this tool dosent work ill just leave the sock spring in there. IM NOT PULLING THE HEAD.

Message: We inject air into cylinder all the time with aircraft. We do this to do a diferential compressions test. You inject air at a know pressure and read the internal cylinder pressure. The difference is you differential reading. It is more accurate then standard wet/dry compression tests. The tool that KD makes is seen often inside JC whitney for years.

Message: There are two tools that you may be asking about. Snap-On makes a compression tester with a hose that fits in the spark plug hole, and the tester hooks to the hose with a quick connect fitting. You simply remove the tire valve in the hose, add an air hose, and you have a pressurized cylinder for removing springs, seals etc. The other tool, as in the last post, is a cylinder leak down tester. They can also be used for the same job, and check your cylinder leakage at the same time. Good luck with your job.

Message: It works my dad was a mechanic and he used it all the time he says, or atleast i have heard of him talking about it before.
I thought about how mothers feed their babies with tiny little spoons and forks, so I wondered what do Chinese mothers use? Toothpicks?
