I need your opinions...

I was considering buying a Flowmaster "Force II" Exahaust System, which is comprised of a Flowmaster "70 Series" muffler and the single outlet pipe...

What I was wondering is... is it REALLY worth it to buy this setup (for about $180 plus shipping) or should I just buy the 70 Series muffler only and then go to a local muffler shop and have them install it with their pipes?

Thank you all for any input you may have...

Pipes are pipes the muffler is where the
sound lies, it depends if you have a mechanic
who can do the work for you at a reasonable
price. Single out is alot simpler than dual.
Does he have 3" pipes? Just dont go to Midas
or some sh1t. The pipes in your package will
be a pretty good fit with minor modification,
whereas bending the pipe from scratch leaves
room for error, especially if there are tight
bendsin close quarters. It all depends on your
mechanic. My best advice, ask him.

Well actually... I'm not going for the "sound" as much as for making the exhaust a little less restrictive... thereby increasing gas mileage..

That is why I would choose the "70 series" versus the 50 or 30s... I don't need it to be "loud".

For what engine? The Force II systems usually use a 50 series muffler. That is what I have on my truck.

I have the force II on my 5.2. I feel its worth the money. It did come with a 50 series SUV muffler though. Its easy to see that the pipes are higher quality than stock.

Ok then... I guess wherever that "other place" I got the information about them having 70 series was wrong then... unless there are 2 versions of the Force II setup.

Well here's another question... on all my "previous" vehicles, I have left all the "muffler work" to the shops like Midas... I guess I just didn't get into the "DITY" mode of automobiles...

Well, now they have their "high performance" section featuring "Ravin" mufflers...supposedly a Flowmaster type knockoff. I'm assuming that they warranty their mufflers for the lifetime of the vehicle... so if that were the case, I just wonder if this would be a better option instead.

Personally, I just want to make a "smart" decision before I buy anything...and not get caught up in any mess down the road.

Well... here's an update.

I went ahead and gave the Ravin' a shot... Since Midas has a lifetime guarantee on their mufflers I pretty much figured that I can't lose there.

Well... I must admit. It's pretty nice! Very "throaty" on my 5.2L V8... I bought the 55 Series which is their "middle" version competing against the Flowmaster 50 series...

So far, I am impressed by how it sounds... I just hope now that it will enhance my fuel efficiency as well..

Well... I paid $275 installed (the manager there kinda "hooked me up" since this system would have been well over $300 normally - I've bought brakes and mufflers for other vehicles there before.)

That price included the muffler, left and right mandrel bent pipes and a set a chrome tips...

Since I get a lifetime warranty on the muffler... I figure that it was worth it...

I was considering a Gibson cat back system until I talked to a guy at Meineke Mufflers. He suggested adding a Flow Master muffler and keeping the stock tail pipe. He said this would be a better set up than the Gibson. So I went with his suggestion. Whata difference. So far I am pleased with the 50 series Flow Master. I sounds great and with the home brew K&N cold air kit it seems to have a better bottom end. I've had it now for 2 days and hoping the gas mileage improves.
The total cost of the muffler installed on my 2001 4.7 QC was $185.

Well... if I had bought the Ravin and kept the "stock single pipe", the total cost of this install would have only been around $130 - $150.

However, I just HAD to get duals out behind the muffler and mandrel bent pipes are EXPENSIVE!!!!

But now that they are on my truck... I feel that they are worth it. They look vicious and they sound vicious too!

Ive been reading this post daily and I'd like to thank all the folks that have given advice in this area. My '99 Dakota C/C, 5.2 liter has an appointment next Tuesday at a shop that does Custom Exhaust work. Im getting a Flowmaster muffler (single-in/dual-out), and two 2-1/2" pipes exiting straight out the rear. (Exactly like the "Gibson" split rear exhaust)
I told the guy I wanted a system that would be tolerable on the highway, but sound REALLY throaty and loud on acceleration. He looked at me and grinned,,,,,,Then I grinned! Seems we were both thinking the same thing for my little yellow truck.
Cant wait to get it done so I can leisurly cruise past the kids in the slammed Hondas and see the looks on their faces when I mash the GO-Pedal..
I'll post back and let you all know how it comes out for me.

I just had a 40-series Flowmaster exhaust installed on my truck and it sounds great! I kept the single pipe setup since my budget's at a minimum since the R/T has the 2.5" pipe (the 2nd pipe is just for looks, and I'll go to a 3" setup once I replace the cat). My truck was done in less than 15 minutes after I arrived, and it only cost me $120.

I have a 90 454ss pickup with stock exhaust. I was wondering if any body has tried the gibson supertruck exhaust. I like the looks of it and want my truck to be different. I just don't want it to be too loud,th400 3.73 rear adds up to about 2800 rpm at 60 mph. I also work with someone who has a 2001 Dodge crewcab 4x4 4.7L with dual flowmasters 50 series, straight out the back and it sounds awesome. A little loud for me though.
