My '95 Dakota sport 2.5/ 5 speed parts truck has a 2.5 out of a Neon rigged into it. The rednecks that owned it last bypassed a lot of sensors and vacuum lines to the point that you had to floor it to keep it running. #2 cylinder burns enough oil to fog up the whole street. Shutters so hard when it idles it actually kills itself. Clutch is almost gone and sometimes the breaks actually work. They claimed to have rebuilt it...

So here's how I fixed it:

1 full bottle of bar's leak, 1 full bottle of STP oil treatment, half a bottle of Marvel mystery oil, 3 quarts of super tech 15w-40, and a few teaspoons of cheap ATF. Non-foulers in all plugs with the hottest autolites I could find, Octane booster and the rest of my MMO in the tank. Hooked up all the working sensors and bypassed the ones that didn't matter. Bypassed the EGR and PCV valves. Hooked up the vacuum lines until everything works within reason. Filled the almost dry master cylinder with DOT 4 and pumped all the air out of it. Rigged a Mr. Gasket air cleaner onto it and removed the AC and fan. Electrical ran already on it didn't work. Turned out there is a hidden switch under the dash to run it. Some Hyper Cool in the radiator keeps it from blowing up again. No catcon and a $10 glass pack keeps the neighbors up. Revved the hell out of it until it burned all the crap out of the cylinders and it no longer smokes. Truck and all that fun for less than $300. Not to mention it only has 90k on it with a tight drive train. Just had the misfortune of rednecks owning it.

Now it runs like a scalded dog and will smoke tires all day until the oil pressure drops. A buddy of mine got into my slightly modded '94 3.9/ 5 speed and we raced. The '95 backfired like hell, but I somehow won.....
