Subject: Refresh my memory .. drivetrain loss? IP: Logged
Message: What should I figure in for drivetrain loss when calculating "at the crank" HP from "rear wheel" horsepower? I know there's more loss from an auto vs. manual ... I imagine different auto's have more loss than others, too.
I'm tryin' to figure out my "at the crank" HP based on the G-tech Pro's "rear wheel" reading.
Basically, how much loss should I figure in with my 4 speed auto tranny and associated running gear?
Thanks guys!

Message: From what I remember reading some time ago, the 4x4 auto Dakotas are something like 28-32% loss. Thats with everything in perfect condition. The auto tranny sucks a lot of power, and turning the through the transfer case takes another couple percent off the top. I responded to a thread on this a couple months ago, but I can find the paper I had that had all the numbers on it. I had this from my days working on Transfer cases for Borg-Warner Automotive. Can't find the dern thing now, but those are a bout the numbers I had.
