Dear Sir, thank you for your inquiry in our products. The spacer makes no HP on the dyno. It makes all of it's power in torque in the low end. If you haven't noticed any power on the Dyno or the track then it's doing what it's supposed to. You would not see any gains down the 1/4 mile or increases on the dyno. The idea of the spacer is to improve overall drivability and fuel mileage. In most cases when people install a bolt on part they expect better mileage and power, what happens is they are into the throttle a lot more than before trying to test performance and thats when the decrease in mileage happens.

Sincerely,Matt

So...

(1) "The spacer makes no HP on the Dyno. It makes all of it's power in torque in the low end.". - That's a quote from AirAid.
(2) "If you haven't noticed any power on the Dyno or the track then it's doing what it's supposed to." - Another quote from AirAid
(3) "The idea of the spacer is to improve overall drivability and fuel mileage."

So...it doesn't make any more HP, is NOT supposed to help in 1/4 mile performance (or on the Dyno), and is mainly for mileage and bottom end Torque. Hmmmm...Dyno's show TQ figures and there were no changes, mileage stayed the same, and 1/4 mile performance wasn't affected on the several people who have tried it (including myself). Hey, that's worth the $90! ;)

BTW: They still aren't able to explain how the spacer keeps the swirl effect through the two turns (90 degree and 45 degree) in the intake plenum of the Dodge Ram/Dakota/Durango manifolds.

I still don't get the whole "if you don't feel any hp and 1/4 gains, than it's doing the job!!" How would it improve gas milage? Maybe they mean you would be hardly touching the gas pedal to feel all that EXTRA TORQUE in the low end! HA HA! That's how it will improve MPG'S!

Oh yeah Ryan, about the V6 thing. I may drive a V6, but at least I know what I'm talking about when it comes to gimmicks. Stop sending me your stupid whinning emails, just let it go buddy. You just made a simple mistake.

I thought H.P. was a calculated number based on torque!??! Anyway Poweraids description sounded like the kind of line I would feed to someone if I wanted to sell them something that did nothing.
Out of curiosity I tried the Tornado a few years back on a Ranger that I had. I couldn't see how it would help with all the twists and turns in the intake. After extensive testing for 1/4 mile times and gas mileage, I took them up on the money back guarantee. It did nothing.
I was taught that tumbling and swirling slows down the flow through a pipe (water or air). That type of flow is a good thing if applied correctly, like in the cylinder heads of my LS1, but is not good anywhere on the intake tract.

I tried (got suckered) one of those "Tornado" POS things as well. Didn't work on either my Dak or my wife's Jeep. Works bitchin' on a leaf blower though...hehehehehe....

Almost forgot something: You are correct on the HP/TQ calculation Wayne.

Apparently, Poweraid has a (alleged) salesperson (or misinformed Tech) working for them that has been sending private emails to some members on this board, including myself. You know WHO you are...I would suggest that you cease any further emails. If you actually work for Poweraid, they will know about it eventually (if not sooner). Email is a wonderful thing...it can be easily forwarded to the appropriate people.

I noticed a note by someone claiming to work for Poweraid. He sounded like an advertisement but he offered no hard proof that they did anything good.
Bernd - We are thinking about cutting about 2 inches off or the runners on an intake manifold and having it extrude honed. This is to go on a 5.2 with no cam or head work. What are your thoughts on this idea?

1 - 1.5" off the runners is fine don't forget to take about 1.1.5" off of the plenum divider as well. If you take 2"+ from the runners, you may have to fill the manifold plenum a little bit...loss in bottom end as well.

I've taken 1" off the runners and 1.5" off the plenum divider on mine with excellent results...above 2500rpm, it pulls MUCH better. I also radiused the runner openings, port matched them to the heads, and radiused the injector bosses...but didn't extrude hone the manifold.
