Subject: installing 6 1/2 speakers IP: Logged
Message: Once again I am asking for help!! I am hoping some one can tell me how to remove the door panels and rear plastic piece in the rear cab?? I have a 2000 Club Cab. I bought 4 Infinity Kappa 63.1I speakers and any local shop around here wants at least $80.00 to install them. Do I need any special tools, Besides a star wrench for the front door???
Thanks for the help!!!

Message: Here's what you do I have a 99 ext. cab dakota and the door panels are easy 5 screws and they slide up and out but you have to be careful and undo the window and door lock switch. next remove the factory speakers but you will need the plates they use for the factory ones. mount the new speakers to the plates buy screwing the new speakers to the plate wire up the speakers and put everything back together. The rear ones you will need to go to a salvage yard and get the round plastic ring for the back speakers to be mounted trust me as I have already done this. The back ones are easy to you need a tork socket for the seat belt holder the cover snaps up and you have to very carefully remove the trim on the floor and very carefully pull the back trim out because it is held in with 3 of those white push pins then install the speakers the same as the doors and then carefully line up the pins in the holes push the trim back on and reinstall the floor trim and the seatbelt holder and your done.
P.S. if you have any ?'s E-mail me at alauseng@hotmail.com

Message: I also have the 99 club cab.I found it was the easiest vehicle to do installation on.I made my own spacers for the speakers out of thin wood, you can even apply sound deadener if desired,or some foam to the back before screwing the spacer to the vehicle. The spacers will also allow you to put odd sized or smaller speakers in if desired,I bet the infinity speakers will match up perfectly though. Also,I just ordered my kick panel pods which provide much better sound than the doors can,and you dont have to pull the panels apart, check out q logic(ai research)good luck------------------------------------------------------ eclipse cd with shuttle/rockford fosgate epx2 symmetry processor/3 sets diamond audio hex separates/8 12" kicker xpl subs/kicker zr460 for the tweets/zr 240 for the rear mids/and a zr 360 for the 4 front mids,a mmats d300hc takes care of the subs....needs a serious alternator upgrade, any ideas????
