I havent heard anything but unless you do alot of free way driving then it wont do nuch. sixth is just a little more overdriven than your fifth like say .50:1 to your say .75:1 but it would be a cool mod plus if you do alot of 4wheeling then the first gear would help since it is alot taller in these trannies like 4.92:1
this info is based on a camaro z28 six speed i dont know about the one that would be in a viper but i figure the same because i would say they are all made by richmond.

The only dak that I have heard of with a 6-speed tranny was the custom built dakota sidewinder but also it had a viper motor with front and rear suspension.

This is a shop in my town. I have never been there but their site says they put a 6 speed richmond behind a 420hp 360ci. They also put a fully independent rear pushrod suspension on it. Don't pay attention to the hideous body work on this truck though. You might be able to find some info on it.

I'm just speaking from pure ignorance, but do stock (or slightly modified) dakotas really make the torque neccesary to maintain highway speed in a .5:1 overdrive condition? The viper has the 6 speed and it works fine and dandy, but it also has 600 or so lb-ft of tq. to play with. I mean, if mileage is that big of a concern, don't bother spending the $5000-6000 of converting the dak to a 6spd, when you could buy a used honda or another 4 cyl economy car and get 25-35mpg. I mean, thats just my opinion, but come on....
