I want to swap out my little 2.5 for a bigger and better one. Ive been told it would cost about 3,000 to 4,000 for the swap with buying a wrecked dakota and droping all of the 2.5 and putting in a bigger one. I want to do this becouse it would be close to the factory jod. So can any suggest the right one becouse Im tired of getting my but smacked. thanks, Chris.

bernd, I know I have a 2.5 in my 97 and I cant run with the 5.9 but with tweaking out my 2.5 could It be possible to turn ther heads. If Im gonna do all of this to my 2.5 so you think it that it would steal be cheaper than droppoing a 5.2 or 5.9 in to my 97? Bear with me Im just getting into the proformance. I know that I should have bought a Dakota R/T But at the time this was all I could do. The reason I would go with a totaled out R/T or 5.2 is that it would look like it I bought an R/T or 5.2.

and bernd just out of curioustity, what do you think a 2.5 would run in the 1/4 with all the above plus jet stage II chip? any ballpark figures? and what about all the above, plus a turbocharger running 7psi of boost?

If you car at all what I think my friend has a 2.5 in his dakota. I laughed at him for weeks lol. Any ways me and him swapped it out for a 360 crate motors that was ported and polished all sorts of custom work done to it before he put it in. Once he got all the internal work he wanted done we put it in. (he got the 360 out of a wrecked 2000 QC the whole rear end was demoleshed hit by a tractor trailer i think) Any ways he's going to the dyno tomarrow to see how its hp/tq is. I totaly whips my 5.2 4x4 understanding tho his is a 4x2. I can't wait to see what hp/tq numbers he puts up. He all ready ordered a vortech super charger. Man i cant wait to drive it once we get that thing on. We also did bolt on mods headers, exaust, 4.10 rear etc etc. I think he has spent some where in the area of $6,000. although i didt ask him the exact amounts. WHen this truck is done its gonna be one sweet ass muscle truck.
