I was wondering if there is a shift kit for my 98' CC 3.9 auto with the 42RE. I think. If so what is the brand name and where can I get one? Also if anyone has used one then what difference does it make.

The Trans-go kit is a one size fits all thing.It can be changed to fit your needs at time of install.What it does is get rid of that slow mush shift and will make your trans last longer,a must have if you add power.

http://www.truckperformance.com/ the kit is the same for all dodge Transmissions.The 3.9 should be a 42re, the 5.2 44re,the 5.9 46re and they make a messed-up four and a half speed for the 4.7 :-}

wrong transmission for that motor. 5.9 Litre only recieved the 46re in the RT. 45RFE is the 4.7 Litre Auto.

The shift kit is universal for the 727, 904, 999, 998, 500, 518, 618, 42rh, 44rh, 46rh, 42re, 44re, and 46re. The only thing that changes is the gasket that you use on the pan.

Is the aluminum panel which regulates the oil flow by the small bullets included in the shift kit?
One of the bullets damaged the surface of this (however called) aluminum panel very hard - the bullet soon will fall through the plate!

I just talked to a well known transmission shop in Southern CA and the guy said they don't do shift kits for newer Dakotas. He said that the kits don't make that much of a difference. Is this true or do you can you guys feel a difference?

Thanks
