does anybody else have that enoying rattle at idle. it's a 95 with the 3.9v6. still has plenty of power but at idle the engine has a rattle. also my tranny whines in every gear except for 4th. what is that.

The rattle on V6 engines is the timing chain, there is a TSB at your local dealer about this problem. It involves replacing the chain and putting in a plastic coated tentioner about 4 hours work.

The tranny noise is probably the bearing between the main shaft and the input shaft (doesn't turn in forth gear, should rebearing the trans.
