I was wondering was exactly header sound is and if there should be any if any at all noise made by headers. I have a 98 CC 3.9 with JBA's on and I hear a little noise but I really don't think that it is a leak because it does not sould like a leak and I have not lost any power. If any one can explain. I just put them on two days ago and I know that the noise was not there before so what is it caused from.

Thanks

Richard

I have had a set of JBA's on my '00 3.9L and have had no noise. Try going back and retorqeing the bolts to factory specks. The bolts that go into the block should be around 25ft lb and the bolts to the y-pipe should be at 19ft lb of torqe. I have had mine on now for right about 2000 miles and no problems. Call your local dealer if you want to check those specs yourself.

It is not unusual to hear a low "tinking" sound as the valves open and the compression hits the headers. It is bearly noticable. If it is louder than that, you may have a flange leak. Retorque as Nathan says. Don't wait as the hot gases will cut the flange and then they will never seal with normal gaskets.
