Message: Dude! That post was almost 2 yrs old!!!!!!
But since you said it, My 4.7 pulled me to 125 yesterday on the freeway with plenty of power and gearing left to go when I let off!
Stock it did 120MPH before it hit a limiter. So 116 was possible even back then. And it's 4WD :)
Some people have a 96 or whatever stock MPH limiter. Not sure why. I hear it's with the aluminum driveshaft or something. But just know, they are NOT all the same. Has nothing to do with the engine.
Both engines are good. 4.7 is just more modern and is not garbage by any means. It is pretty much EASIER to work on as well. I know that will start arguments. But I've worked on LA engines in the past, and I've got a 4.7 now. I was surprised myself once I took the wrench to my 4.7

Message: I bet $100 my 4WD 4.7 would do a higher top speed than MAD Dakota's!
If he knew enough to get his truck to break 120, he'd know the 4.7 and some skill could do it as well.
Why don't you put up and post a picture and video of your mighty truck??? (probably owns a 1990 Honda Civic).
If you can, then I'll go find some safe un occupied highway to take a video of mine burying the 120 speedo!
Hell, I'll plug my onscreen GPS in and record that speedo as it aproaches 140MPH and ask if your Dak can do that?
I really have no reason to go 140.
But at least I am sure I could prove it.
You could even put your rear axle on jack stands and record it in gear without really moving. The speed limiter would still cut it off where ever it is.
