Subject: Jet chips IP: Logged
Message: Can anybody tell me the difference between stage 1 and stage 2 jet chips? I've got a 98 dakota V6 with airaid, 180 thermo,3923 plugs,free flow muffler,IAT adjuster. Thanks.

Message: stage 1 is for stock engines, and the 2 is for engines with intake, exhaust and 180 t-stat. only neither one works!! dont buy it

Message: Stage I is just for stock engines who want to be more "power" tuned. Stage II is if you have a low restrictive exhaust, headers, and 180-degree thermostat. Will achieve higher gains with Stage II obviously if you have all these other things added.
There is also a Stage III chip, but that is custom designed for your vehicle, and usually consists of internal-engine mods, like cranks, and things like that. Around $500.

Message: FWIW, I have pretty much the same mods you have and went with a Stage II for my 2001 4.7.
It works and I'm quite happy with it...was something like $199 at truckperformance.com
There have been some posts that it doesn't work or compliment the IAT adjustor.

Message: How would the stage 1 chip work with the mods I have? Do they both require premium gas? I understand they are helpful when towing.
