Message: lol did u see how old this post is that u brought up?? but anyways i read back and its funny how a lotta u practically worship duner because hes in the 12s in the 1/4. why dont u guys go suck his dick or something. there are a lotta R/Ts in the 12s also and with money anyone can be in the 12s with anything. and although some 4.7s have beaten R/Ts stock, it has also worked the other way around. and the R/T comes with heavier rims and tires, an outdated tranny (which can be greatly improved upon unlike a standard), and a heavier engine. so if u wanna be fast, stop worshipping duner and his FAR FROM STOCK 4.7 and go out and spend some money of ur own.

Message: Jay B,
So you dug up an old post, probably searching for 'R/T'on the search engine, No big deal.
I don't own the 5.9, but if you rarely or never have predetonation, 'pinging', you don't need premium. There have lots of good threads about the higher octane subject.

Message: Joey. I don't know what 'far from stock' would be to you. But I don't think ANYTHING is different from stock on Duner's 4.7 internally except for maybe some HO cams or something. I believe his bottom end, heads, and intake are ALL stock. And he invested like under $2k in his home made turbo.
I mean lots of people can do that. But how many people do YOU know that spent so little to be into the 12's? And on an engine that is OVER 1 liter smaller than a 360. When I tell people I have 287 cu inches in my 4X4, they get surprised. The little engine can run and it tows ALL AS GOOD as the larger 360. You know, probably BETTER given the engine AND tranny setup they have.
The 360 was one of the best engines ever. but it's out dated.

Message: what does a 5.9 run in the 1/4 and what does a 4.7 run in the 1/4. if the 4.7 is indeed faster then i will buy a 4.7 and put rt rims and bading on it. i dont care about the 5 speed i care about the speed.

Message: dude, don't put RT badging and rims on it! don't be a poser! well, not like that anyway, i would put six banger badges on it just to mess with peoples minds. and i personally would take an RT, just because i like the 360 better, even though it eats more gas. don't get me wrong though, the 287 is a nice engine to work with, also a better design in my opinion, and deserving about the same respect as the 360, but not my personal favorite. both being stock, i would say the 5.9 is faster, but a 4.7 with a few mods might beat a stock 5.9. but don't just get a truck for speed. you gotta at least haul something once a year or so ;-)

Message: seems the 4.7 only has about 5 hp less than a 5.9 r/t. does that make a difference when the r/t has more weight than a 4.7? just a little curiuos, and illiterate to. Does the r/t go thru more gas to for that extra 5 hp?

Message: the r/t is more restricted from the factory and responds better to boltons. and graphitedak... i coulda taken my stock r/t, added a cold air kit, and 150 shot and been in the 12s for 1 grand. but i chose a more traditional method of boltons just because they dont stress the engine like a turbo or nitrous will. and u dont even know for sure wat he has done to that 4.7 u just guessed. so im sure he spent a lil more than 2 g's to be in the 12s. ive spent about 3 grand and have a 14 second truck. not the best but just ok. all i need left to do is a APS stall, 4.56 gears, and some good slicks instead of these crappy RSAs and ill be seeing low 13's maybe high 12s with a naturally aspirated stock heads and cam truck.

Message: don't get me wrong i love rt's. When i see them on the road and hear them i want one even more, But there's no doubt in my mind that a 4.7 is just as fast. I own a 97 sport with a 318 and just a couple of mods ( k&n fipk, flowmaster, tbs, and a shift kit. I have only raced a couple of rt's that my friends own, so i know there stock. My truck is right there with em and my truck only pushes 215hp stock, but i don't know about now but im sure it's not 250 horsepower and 345 ft pound's of torque.
