Hey Bernd, if your out there, I wanna talk to you about your truck. I have a 2000 Flame Red CC with the V6/ Automotic. So far, I have an open element air cleaner and a Flowmaster 50 series muffler. Single exhaust. I am looking for more performance out of my little wheezer. I am consistantly getting beaten by my friend in his 2000 S10 4.3L. He only has the same mods I do. Please help!!!

Sorry to but in on Bernd, because he is Mr Good Wrench you know.I hate to say this but the shit10 does have some advantage because of the engine size and your truck weighs about 600 lbs more.Bernd will tell you what you need to do to beat the shit10.Good luck, kick his ass.

The S10's aren't that fast Bob. ;)

First off, get rid of that open element round filter...grab an intake tube system. Second, a modified Throttle Body will really wake up that V6 of yours (Bruce still has a few 48mm Billet TB's available). Third, relocate the IAT sensor into a cooler location (or you can grab one of my IAT adjusters).

The final item to really look at though is the differential gears. If he's running the 3.7x or higher set, and you're running the 3.55 (or 3.2x) set, he'll pretty much take you out of the hole...most of the time. Those three mods listed above will definitely make him think twice about messing with a Dakota again. ;)

Thanks for the info Bernd. I have another question for you. I have a Mopar Performance catalog and a little money and was looking at the Sure-grip differential. Right now, I only have a standard diff and I would like the added traction. My question is, could I just take out the old differential and ring gear, swap the ring gear and put the new diff back in, or do I need to reset backlash and preload?

That's a given. You'll have to set both with any new gear set.

Jon,

I thought that it was 'Don't ask, don’t tell'. If you are doing feletio to a Dodge Dakota v-6 Driver, I really don't want to know about your closet antics, that’s just TMI. I'm sure if you hadn’t been in drag the Dak driver would have turned you down.
