Message: If you have a rattle coming from the cat, then the ceramic in it is broken and you should replace the cat. I had one do this and when it would heat up, sometimes the rattle would stop, but it was a damaged cat.

Message: Thanks man, It really is an irrating rattle. My truck is a 97 with the 5.2 2wd and I believe your are the first to have maybe had this prob!!! I have asked several people but no help. Yeah the rattle sounds like a thin metal or ceramic rattle it drives me insane!!!! but it really only does when you are in gear.

Message: I believe the Cat is covered under a 8/80 emissions standards warranty. If the cat is bad and you have less than 80,000 miles then the dealer should replace it under warranty.
Sometimes the FIPK will whistle if there is a vacuum leak, like the seal at the filter or where the tube connects to the TB.

Message: Are you sure!!! I mean about that whistling!!! I took about 2 hours to do it and to do it right!!!! I used some gasket sealer for the tube and torqued it pretty tight to the throttle body, and as well the filter part!!!! I think it is the noise that it is supposed to make!!!! It slightly resmebles a Turbo kind of whistle. I have intimaded a couple of people doing some stop light to stop light playin. It does not do it when I rev it up jus when I am in gear!!! The harder and higer I rev it the more like a turbo it sounds!!!!! I love it and have noticed such a gain!!!! got an apointment to replace the cat don't think I am going to be able to get it done for free though!!!!! Thanks for the help guys!!!!

Message: Sounds like the exhaust whistle may be a baffle in the muffler, not sure if Flowmaster is baffled, and as it started upon muffler installation, just a thought.
