Rascal, most auto parts stores have replacement pads. I got mine from Pep Boys ,but also got prices from Kragen and Napa auto parts. Lifetime warranty about 40 bucks. I got Raybestos brand , easy job to do.

Oh yeah, HOW is no problem, just curious if someone has a premium brand that they have used and liked. I was looking into the new ceramic pads..

the ceramic pads from Napa are not an exact fit, I just tried them and the outside front would not seat flush into the caliper without some modifications to the backside of the pad. I took them back and got the brutestop pads, fit perfectly.

I like the brutestop pads, only had them on one week. There is a definite improvement in overall braking due to the new pads and powerslot rotors.

I have tried many pads. I work for a city and do a lot of police car work, and the only pad that we found to give both good stopping ability and "NO" noise was the Napa Ceramix. We are very happy with them. They also have a good life expectancy. Also, you can't go wrong with any of the Raybestos high line brakes.

Has anyone who has used the Powerslots experienced problems with brake squeal? I have a set with Performance Friction Pads that squeal under moderate pressure. The shop said it is brake dust buildup but i think its because they didn't put squeal-stop on the back of the pads.

I notice lots of comments (dated 2001) about replacement brake pads. I have a '98 V-6 club cab 4x2 and I can't get more than 25k miles out of a set of factory pads. I have looked at aftermarket pads, but none that I've seen come with the brackets that are fitted to the back of factory pads. Can't see how you could remove the brackets from the old pads and install them on the new ones without damaging either the pads or the brackets. Any suggestions?

If have ever done ANY other vehicle before these are very similar. If you have never done any other vehicle...they are actually very easy. I've not done my Dakota, but I did my brother's Durango, same set up. The only thing you will find is that the caliper bolts have a allen bolt type head on them. Similar to old chevy's. I'm not sure of the size, but I had one that fit.
If you've never done this before, also remember to open the bleeder on the brake when you compress the piston to remove old pad and put on new one. (I used a large C-clamp for compression.) The first time I did a pad replacement I did not know this (I was 15, now I'm not) and ruined one of my calipers before figuring it out.

Hey, I have a set of front brake pads for sale, they are Apex Kevlar Metallic, I ordered them from ebay, but the seller won't take them back, the pads have never been installed on a vehicle, there is a tad bit of scuffing from where I was gettting them on, on the back side of the pad. If anyone is interested, e-mail me at RacerZ@mail2racer.com
Thanks!

I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota, had the front brake pads replaced with Ceramic pads,
right after that I had smelled burning rubber, seems that both Brake Calipers needed to be replaced, is this normal? Someone told me that it was very unlkley that they would both go at the same time.

Jim: I suspect that who ever did your brakes did not open the bleed valves when he compressed the caliper to put the new pads in. This forced all the accumulated gunk up into the brake lines. The first time that you stepped on the brakes all this gunk went right back into the caliper and lock up the piston. who ever screwed it up should fix it.
