 Subject: 4-5mpg and tons of exhaust mostiure

I have a 1997 dodge Dakota sport with the 5.2 v-8, and
recently three things have occurred firstly my gas milege went
from maybe 15-17 mpg to eating a quarter tank at idle in under
half an hour, secodnly I have tons of mostiure coming out of
my exaust, compared to almost nothing two weeks ago, and
thirdly it's begun to have strange idle patterns, normally after
it's warm up period it would sit at around 900rpm but now even
after reaching correct temperature it will continue to fluctuate
between 600-1100 rpm, it also recently just ticked over to 180k
miles any ideas guys?
