Subject: Spark Plug Wires? IP: Logged
Message: What are the best spark plug wires for my 2000 3.9L V-6, I just ordered the Autolite 3923s and want to get some wires as well. I like the fact that JBA makes a kit for my truck not just a universal one like Taylor, but what size wire are they? Does anyone have MSD wires on there truck?

Message: I have the MSD 8.5mm Super conductor Custom Wire Set from http://www.truckperformance.com for $67.50. I needed new spark plug wrie looms (holders). Naturally, they did not fit in the stock holders. They were red and just fit on the Cap. If you didn't change you cap and rotor to brass contacts, now is not a bad time to do it. I changed the the cap and rotor first and then the wires. You could mark the original wires first and then install the cap & rotor and use the original setup as a guide.

Message: You will not go wrong with the MSD Super Conductor. They will fit in the factory holders. It is a tight fit, but they will work. Premium product all the way.

Message: Have you ever pulled the connector out of the boot of a plug wire while you were trying to get it off of the spark plug? That is almost impossible to do with a Taylor plug wire. They have the best construction that I have ever seen in a plug wire. As far as performance goes they are very similar. They have different core designs but one will probably not give any more performance than the other. Plus who wouldn't want lime green plug wires? Or maybe hot pink?

Message: Try Magnacore! They are used on more winning race cars then any other brand. They seldom advertise. They make one type of wire and are not into marketing hype or gimicks. If you think about it their is absolutely no reason to make several differnt types of plug wires just different designs to match application.. If you use the best conductor and the best insulators then their is no need to make anything elese. You want a wire that resists heat, has low resistance and will stand up to vibration. Before everything was computerrized it was alot simpler. You bought a spool of accel copper core wire and terminated your own ends. The RFI was horable though. IMHO
