Subject: Engine oil cooler IP: Logged
Message: I’m planning on putting an engine oil cooler on my 2000 Dakota for extra towing protection. I know a lot of you out there have installed Derale coolers, but Earl Performance has what appears to be the same stacked plate style. Are there any major differences in the two? I installed a cheap Hayden on a previous truck, but a hole was worn on one of the hoses due to the truck vibration. This needs to be avoided, so I’m thinking braided stainless steel or custom built hydraulic hoses (a place here in Colorado Springs can build them. For those who have installed a cooler, how did you route the hoses routed to avoid the abrasion issue? Any photos of a clean install?
