Message: You can use a T/B from a 94, 95 or 96 v8.
You should also get the cable with it as chances are
linkage will be different.
(remember to use a brand new T/B gasket)

Message: Do as Curly said but don't use a TB from a '96. In '96 they did away with the EGR valve and the TB is a little different and may throw a code.

Message: It lets the engine breathe easier. The bigger TB flows more air. Think of you engine as just an air pump. The more air in and out the more efficient it will be thus making more power. Not neck snapping power either but no more fuel consumption.
