Message: Hi Eric,
Well, before the shaker/K&N I was already running an Intense Peformance Stage II intake with a 9" big mouth filter. I put the IP on with about 100 miles on the truck, which made a big difference over the factory airbox in throttle response. It's hard to tell if I gained anything with the shaker over the IP intake. But it does "roar" better when I tromp on it, for what that's worth :o). The truck seems like it performs better, but that could just be because it's breaking in some.
Wish I had some hard HP gain numbers for you, but I only made one HP test with my Gtech Pro and that was with about 600 miles on the truck. The distributor I bought it from said that Proglass advertises a 15 hp gain with the shaker setup. That's with the chrome K&N filter top. I can only assume the X-Stream filter top would make it perform even better.
So, to make that long story short, I THINK the shaker performs better. I just like the look it gives. And it makes for some interesting conversations with others at the gas pump! hehehe
