I will more than likely have a shop bend the pipes for me, because I have yet to find a cat back system that fits what I want. I like the look of the exhaust exiting before the rear wheel. My question is this, Is there any disadvantage to having pipes that are considerably shorter than stock? Also, if I decided to go with a dual exhaust, exiting on both sides before the rear wheels, would there be any loss in low end? Thanks guys!

I really don't see any problems with loss in the low end. The biggest thing if you do an aftermarket upgrade, don't increase the pipe size unless you supercharge it. You will loose low end if you do go larger. Thats why I still have the factory y-pipe with my headers, high flow cat and dual flowmasters.
