Before anyone replies anything, PLEASE ONLY RESPOND IF YOU HAVE USED THE CHIP OR ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT (NOT FROM WHAT YOU'VE HEARD!) Thanks.
A ton of people say it works and a ton people say its junk and your computer will learn its way around it. I can't seem to find reliable proof either way. I don't want to spend the money if its crap obviously... If it does work, is it fairly noticeable?? more low end or top end gain? any improve in mpg? So far I have an intake and a cat back dual exhaust in my 4.7L 2005 Dakota. To chip or not to chip, that is the question... thanks for any help.

I wouldn't use that chip, but let us know if you'd like to know what mods WILL work well for a 4.7. So far, you seem to be scraping the botom of the barrel for mods for your truck. If you don't want my input because I wouldn't use that chip, that's fine too.

Ok. Ya, I would love to hear about other mods that will give my 4.7 a boost. I just dont really want to dish out a ton of money thats why I was asking about the chip; If it did what it said it would be worth the couple hundred. Many people were saying its crap, but never said they had personally tried it or could give me proof that it was junk. I guess i would prefer a mod more for the low end get up. Are gear ratios the answer to that?

Gear ratios are one of the best ways to do that. Your truck came with 3.92, or more likely 3.55. Several of us have gone from 3.55 to 4.10 and noticed a slight increase in fuel economy, as well as much better acceleration. Not cheap, but all the more reason not to waste your money on cheap junky mods like the jet chip.
The 4.7 also responds well to more ignition advance. While some of the v6 guys seem to like the jet chip, the 4.7 crowd prefers superchip by far. I went with a custom flash myself, before superchip was available. The difference was noticable. I had to run premium fuel until I changed the gearing.
Another good mod for a 4.7 is a cam change. Swapping to the cams from the HO motor gave me more pep across the rpm range. There are also hotter cams out there, that would mainly improve top end.
For exhaust, the bottleneck seems to be the stock y-pipe. Some versions are more crimped than others, seems to vary by vendor more than the year. Less money than the cat back swap, and no one has ever reported dynoing a gain for the 4.7 on just a cat back swap. The intake will give you some more engine noise that you might like, but only one brand of intake that I know of has ever been claimed to dyno a gain, and that is only at the highest rpm.
So if you don't want to dish out a lot of money on mods, your best bet is to use your mod money wisely; instead of dishing it out on less effective mods.

I bought one and couldnt tell the difference. Put it on my newphews truck (shelby dakota) and it made a little differance. In my oppion its not worth it.Mine is laying on the work bench thats what i think of it.Iam driving a Shelby dakota also.

I bought a Stage 2 Jet, used it for about 2 years when I first bought the truck, and did some bolt-ons. My 2 cents, Don't waste your money on this, I sold mine on e-bay. Running a SCT tuner with a custom tune from KRC, very happy now!

Don't know about your first post but, on the gear ratios, yes. You'd be better with either 3.92:1 or 4.10:1 gears with 35" tires. Especially if you have an auto trans. If your truck is a 4x4 don't forget that it's 2 sets fo gears not just one.

I'd go to at least 4.10, and consider going even deeper for 35" tires. Might get more cam advice if you post what motor you are asking about.

i have 5 dakotas...one i race has the jet 2 ...it works well...not worth the money though...you can get a hand held programer that works better....
